Walkers Shortbread is The World’s Finest Shortbread, and we think it deserves the company of nothing but the finest. From elegant teas to the world’s finest whiskies, there some brilliant things you can combine shortbread with. We have shared our recommendations for pairing local Scottish whisky with Walkers Shortbread in a popular blog post, and now we’d like to suggest a few more classic flavour duos. Try out some of these fine taste combinations!
Chocolate and orange
It is no coincidence that the chocolate orange at Christmas is a firm favourite with the whole family. The combination of tart, tangy orange with rich, luxurious chocolate is a winner in almost every context. For a lavish treat, Walkers Orange Royals are the perfect choice. This delicious combination brings tangy orange and smooth milk chocolate together with our melt-in-the mouth shortbread.
Strawberries and cream
British tennis wouldn’t be the same without strawberries and cream. But you don’t have to wait for next year’s tennis tournament to enjoy the refreshing taste of this classic combination. With our luxury meringue range, you can whip up an elegant treat in no time. Try a sophisticated pavlova, or mini meringue nests filled with lashings of cream and sumptuous strawberries. Meringue, strawberries and cream is an easy way to serve desserts fit for any dinner party or fancy occasion. And if you just want a low-fat, delicious, easy dessert, our tubs of meringue stars are ready to share – just top with your favourite cream and berry combination, and enjoy.
Chocolate and more chocolate
Some people can’t get enough chocolate – and who can blame them? Since chocolate was introduced to Europe in the 16th century, we have grown to love it more and more. Today, British consumption of chocolate is a staggering 11 kg per person per year. That is a lot of chocolate bars! Many prefer something to balance the taste of chocolate, and biscuits or shortbread is always a winner. But if you want to go all out, Walkers Extremely Chocolatey cookie is stuffed full of chocolate goodness. It has Belgian dark, milk and white chocolate chunks in a tasty chocolate cookie dough. It doesn’t get much more chocolatey than that…
Oats and honey
Do you put honey on your morning oats? Or maybe you enjoy flapjacks as an oaty snack when you go out and about? Oats and honey is a true British combination. Scottish heather honey and locally farmed oats is one of those flavour blends that we may not shout about from the rooftops, but it is a comforting treat we wouldn’t be without. Our interpretation of this classic is Oatflake and Honey biscuits - a crumbly favourite with many.
Whisky and shortbread
While admittedly not one of the classic combinations, this is such a hit that you should give it a try. Read our article about how we combined our favourite Scottish whiskies with shortbread that has been baked in the Scottish Highlands for over a hundred years, and we think you’ll love it too. Combining two of the world’s finest products can only bring out the best of both.
