Ecclefechan Tarts - Deliciously Different!
Posted by Michael Mortimer on 14th Aug 2017
Once a Scottish sensation and a popular choice within bakeries throughout the country, the recipe for these tarts had all but disappeared as time moved on. Until Walkers Shortbread jumped on board of course…
And since then, our luxurious Ecclefechan Tarts have even won a Gold Award at the Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Awards in 2008.
Named after the town of Ecclefechan in the Scottish Borders, these delicious all butter pastry tarts are filled with the finest ingredients.
Did you know…
"Oor Wullie" of The Sunday Post once got a day off school for spelling "Ecclefechan" correctly! But can you pronounce it correctly?
Let us give you a helping hand… pronounced EKUL-FEKAN.
Back to business…
Picture in your mind deep cups of buttery shortbread pastry filled to the brim with juicy sultanas and currants, combined with delectable pieces of glace cherry and chopped almonds (or look below…)
This scrumptious product also fits perfectly into our luxury range of traditional Scottish delicacies.
Delicious as a dessert, served warm with cream, Ecclefechan Tarts are an equally good accompaniment to tea or coffee - or perhaps a wee spot of sherry?
However you choose to serve them, this nostalgic taste of Scotland is sure to win your heart.
So, what are you waiting for, if you are based in the UK, head on over to our online shop and grab a pack (or two) of our Luxury Ecclefechan Tarts.
