Unique Ideas for Christmas Presents and Christmas Parties
Posted by Michael Mortimer on 10th Nov 2015
Christmas is a time to give. Whether you splurge on an extravagant present, or want to give a personal gift which means something to the recipient - get inspired to find the perfect present with Walkers. From edible gifts to collectors’ items, we’ve got it all!
Make it personal
While our gift boxes, gift products and packs of delicious baking are all wonderful gifts in themselves, sometimes you may want to add an extra personal touch. The list of what you can do to add a personal twist to your Walkers Shortbread gift is endless, but here are a few suggestions:
- Buy a cute Walkers mug or two and fill them your favourite Walkers shortbread shapes. Wrap up with colourful paper or cellophane so your lucky recipient always has a treat to go with their cuppa. Scottie shortbreads are great for a dog lover!
- Make a DIY hot chocolate kit to go with a pack of your favourite chocolate biscuits. Will you choose the Extremely Chocolatey Biscuits or Crispy Toffee & Chocolate?
- Be inspired by our Gift Boxes and add your own personal favourites in a hamper for your family: a bottle of high quality whisky, some cheese and a delicious chutney would go well in an oatcakes hamper.
- For the outdoor enthusiast, you can knit a warm hat and fill with individual snackpacks of shortbread or biscuits, so they can bring some on their next outing.
- Giving a wee one a present they can both use and enjoy? How about buying a lunchbox with their favourite characters from books or TV on, and filling them with fun shortbread shapes as an extra treat?
We’d love to hear your gift ideas, so let us know how you will be giving away Walkers on our Facebook page!
Gifts for wee ones…
Grandchildren, children and little friends often get an extra treat on Christmas day, and shortbread always goes down a treat. A lot of our shortbread tins are made to keep, so your little ones can enjoy playing with them again and again. How about this London Bus or Scottish Explorer tin, for instance? Another firm favourite is the Suitcase Tin of Shortbread, popular with any budding globetrotter.
The adorable Shortbread Sheep Shapes are fun to eat, and it is probably even OK to play with your food – a little – with these cute shapes. A tin of Scottie Dog Shortbreads will be much appreciated, and these dogs can be just for Christmas (although you can of course enjoy them all year round). You can fine more novelty tins on our website!
For the slightly older kids, the Walkers Vintage Truck is a beautiful collector’s item. The model based on our original delivery trucks from the 1930s will be appreciated by car enthusiasts of all ages!
…and big ones
If you want to give away edible gifts, there are so many opportunities on our website. From The World’s Finest Shortbread to specialty oatcakes, gluten free shortbread and luxury meringues – you can find your favourite Walkers Shortbread products online. There are many other gift options too, from Biscuit Assortments and Gift Boxes, to our range of Walkers products that always prove popular. Try leather luggage tags for the traveller, branded red tartan cufflinks or a wonderful, warm cashmere scarf.
Unique collector’s items
This year has seen some milestones for the British royal family. Walkers have celebrated the arrival of the royal baby Prince Charlotte with a popular commemorative tin. We also congratulated HRH Queen Elizabeth II on becoming Britain’s longest reigning monarch with this unique and beautiful commemorative tin of Union Jack shortbread in her honour.
Serve up a treat this Christmas
Whether you are hosting the Christmas dinner or just having family over for the holidays, be prepared to serve up a treat at short notice. With a box of chocolate chip shortbread or a pack of your favourite Walkers biscuits in the cupboard, you are always prepared for an impromptu guest. For a savoury snack, our range of oatcakes go really well with cheese. And everyone knows that fruitcake is part of Christmas, so even if you make your own, having one of the beautiful, rich Walkers fruitcakes ready to serve means that guests will always feel welcome.
A platter of mini meringue nests decorated with softly whipped cream and fresh fruit is a stylish and classy dessert. You should also try these delicious miniature festive shortbread stars, either on their own or as a topping on a showstopper cake or dessert centrepiece. They look adorable, and taste even better! If you are hosting a Christmas event for the kids, look no further than our mini shortbread Christmas trees – they’ll love the taste and the shapes. The shortbread trees even come in a beautiful Christmas tree shortbread tin if you want to give some away as a present.
Remember - even if you aren’t planning any social gatherings, friends and family may pop over during the festive weeks, so it is always useful to have some sweet treats up your sleeve.
A very merry Christmas from all of us at Walkers!
